Vintage 4th of July
This spring and summer my thoughts have run alot to time and rememberance.
We are on this earth for such a short time so to leave our mark is an important
thing for many of us. My love for "old things", bits and pieces of the past has always
been with me. I still hold dear a set of books my father brought home when I was about
seven, he found them when clearing out a property and gave them to me.."Ridpath's
History of the World". I first read about Abraham Lincoln in these books and memorized
the Gettysburg Address. (Yes, I was quite the "nerd") Someday I will pass them on and hope
that they will be treasured by the next owner as much as they were by me. We can only hold
on to material things for the brief time we are human...we have to pass them on...and in the passing
we hope that a part of us will be remembered as well.
